Volunteer Title: Volunteer Basketball Coach Position Summary: Make a positive impact in your community by sharing your love of basketball! YMCA Volunteer Coaches play an essential role in helping young athletes learn the fundamentals of the game, develop confidence, and grow as teammates and individuals. As a Volunteer Basketball Coach, you’ll lead practices and games, teach sportsmanship and teamwork, and create a fun, encouraging environment where every player can thrive—regardless of skill level. You’ll receive support and guidance from YMCA staff, along with access to practice plans and coaching resources. Essential Responsibilities: Lead and organize weekly practices and games Teach basketball skills, rules, and strategies appropriate for the age group Foster a positive, inclusive team atmosphere Model YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility Communicate effectively with players, parents, and YMCA staff Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years old Must be able to communicate effectively with high school students Enthusiasm for working with youth and promoting healthy play Basic knowledge of basketball fundamentals (training provided) Commitment to scheduled practices and games Background check required (provided by YMCA) Requirements: Volunteer Application CORI/SORI, Criminal Background Check and Sex Offender Registry Check ***ID must be verified in person References (online) Child Abuse Prevention Training Interview Start Date: As soon as possible Days available or Day: Weekly Wednesdays Time: Program runs 5:30pm-6:30pm
